No glitz, no glamour, just honest, unfiltered moments in the places where you feel most at home. My photography is about making you see yourselves in a new light, in the environment that means the most to you. I specialise in rural family portraits, offering a unique understanding of the challenges and joys which come with life on the land. Let’s create candid images that reflect your family’s true essence.

Oh hey! Welcome to Gingham and Hide, I am Kirra.

A little bit about me...I grew up in Central Queensland in a mining town but always found myself on my friends properties where I instantly fell in love with the rural lifestyle. This, needless to say, only amplified my already existent (what some would consider sick) love of horses.

Where my passion for visual story-telling originated from...

Photography has always been part of my life, from capturing school carnivals with my childhood disposable camera to winning a competition that bought me my first digital camera. But it wasn’t until my 20s, while working in local government, that things truly began. The media team needed event photos, and I eagerly volunteered. That one moment sparked something bigger, eventually leading me to start my own business, with my first client being a close friend.

Since then, photography has taken me all over Queensland and even to Fiji, allowing me to capture raw, unfiltered moments in the lives of wonderful people. Whether it’s a family, branding or wedding session, I focus on the real, unposed beauty of the here and now, providing images that tell genuine stories—memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

I find dad jokes hilarious. I can’t sing but will try anyway. I LOVE a good flat pack.

Fun facts about me:

I stop to pat all animals. I can’t keep plants alive in my house...Animals on the other hand, I'm great with!

My little quirks:

I fell off my horse when I was 9 in the middle of a campdraft arena in front of EVERYONE because my saddle was too loose (still totally embarrassed!). Best advice I’ve ever been given: “Life is too short not to laugh at yourself.”
